History

Kaisa Daesun was born to a human woman, working as a guard for a merchant in Denerim, and the merchant's elven servant. The two ended their relationship, but maintained friendship, and Kaisa often visited her father in the alienage. As an openly know half-elf, she received vitriol from both human children and elven alike--though after a few fights to protect the alienage children, they fell into benevolent tolerance.

As fights between Kaisa and the other children grew more serious, Kaisa's mother began to train her to spar properly, hoping to find an outlet for her aggression. The ultimate solution came when Kaisa was in her teens. Her mother married, and moved the new family to Amaranthine. Kaisa discovered she quite liked no one knowing her mixed heritage, and while she wrote to her father occasionally, they became much more distant, and Kaisa ceased any open acknowledgement of him and his blood. She continued her training, eventually becoming an Amaranthine guard. She now got to continue protecting others, and became respected. Kaisa thought herself very lucky, until the Blight happened. She heard about the sacking of Denerim after the fact, and worriedly sought out knowledge of her father. Upon finding out he didn't survive the darkspawn, she was struck with guilt over her abandonment of him. To assuage her guilt, she announced her mixed heritage to her fellow guards, assuming they would hold her skill over her blood.

She was wrong.

While she wasn't let go, the demeanor of the other guards became much chillier, and Kaisa was given assignments she loathed, away from the center of town and the action. Disparaged and disillusioned, she gritted her teeth and continued on. The assignment ended up saving her life, when the darkspawn attacked Amaranthine. Kaisa managed to make it out, and was highly unimpressed with the idea of burning the city down.

That was when the Hero of Ferelden appeared, and saved Amaranthine, and her family. And that was when Kaisa got starry eyed over the Wardens. They had saved Denerim, and saved her family, and better yet, they wouldn't care about her blood. She saw her chance for glorious heroism without having to lie about herself. She promptly showed up on the Wardens' doorstep, asking to undergo the Joining. She survived, and was inducted into their ranks.

Kaisa became known for being ridiculously enthusiastic about fighting horrible things. Ogres? Broodmothers? Bring them on. Everything was just another chance for her to become a better fighter and protect others. Only when Kaisa started to hear The Calling did she begin to fear. No amount of fear made her willing to put up with some Magister showing up and talking about blood magic and killing her for a Maker-damned demon army. She followed after the first rogue Wardens, and got out. She made a beeline to Ferelden, eventually learning where the other Wardens had gone to.

Hoping that the Inquisition will be able to help solve this mess, Kaisa headed off to Skyhold.

Update: After arriving at Skyhold, Kaisa hung around to help out while various nonsense cropped up. First staying in Skyhold itself, then the illustrious Warden camp, and finally moving along with the other Wardens of Skyhold to Kirkwall. After a period of time, Kaisa was temporarily assigned to stay in Griffin Wing Keep, and help train up the Warden rookies. She returned to Kirkwall, but after contemplation, eventually requested to be reassigned to Griffin Wing Keep, which was accepted. There, she was known as a tough, but fair and compassionate mentor to the new generation of Wardens.

However, when she heard about a bunch of IDIOTS getting themselves killed and leaving the Inquisition outpost in Kirkwall with virtually no Wardens left, she decided to come back. After all, it seems time and again that the whole place goes straight to the void without her there.

Personality

Polite people might refer to Kaisa as 'boisterous'. Impolite people would probably use the phrase 'A loud, annoying tool', or maybe 'What the fuck is wrong with her'. She's akin to a force of nature, with a tendency to barrel through whatever stands in her way, dragging others along with her (often reluctantly), and leaving destruction in her wake. She plunges into things headlong, often without a plan fully formed--though she is more than willing to listen to other people's plans, and accept them. She doesn't necessarily need to be charge, and will follow enthusiastically after other people, throwing herself into it just as much as when she's working entirely on her own violation.

Hot-blooded would be a good word to describe her. She's loud, temperamental, and flirtatious, as quick to start a fight--if she thinks the cause is just--as she is to start flirting with someone, if they catch her fancy. She doesn't feel in small amounts--she puts herself fully into everything she does, and that includes her emotions. She's always quick to tell people what she thinks, for better or worse. She can be humbled, however, particularly if done by a person she respects, and will apologize if she thinks that she has wronged someone.

The main motivators in Kaisa's life is to protect other people, and do it while being really heroic and cool. She wants to save other people, but she also wants glory, and she wants the immortality of living a life that impacted the world in a significant way. This isn't necessarily tied to prestige--while other people knowing that she was an honorable and awesome person is pretty great, that's not as important as just knowing herself, personally, that she made a difference, even if it's unsung. Her habit of trying to protect everyone around her makes her tend to collect small children, small animals, and particularly delicate people and keep them from harm. This usually has mixed results, mostly from most of these people objecting to being treated like a sickly dog.

She's loyal to a fault, particularly when it comes to the Wardens. When Kaisa gets attached to someone, it's hard for her to get unattached, or see through their various flaws. When it comes to the Wardens as an organization, she doesn't take maligning them well, and doing it to a specific Warden, even less so. While she's not happy with the direction the Order has taken, she has faith that with time, and hard work, they'll be able to get this whole mess straightened out and get things back on course.

Opinions & Affiliations

Chantry
Strong in her belief of the Maker and Andraste, wants to believe in the Chantry. Thinks that people within the Chantry have done foolish things, but keeps faith that it'll all work out, and that the Chantry is ultimately trying its best.

Qun

While individuals who escaped the Qunari seem to generally be cool, the Qun as a whole is creepy and bad and will probably try to kill everyone if not killed first. Maybe if the Qunari can see the error of their ways and be converted--or at least abandon the Qun. But those who continue to prove a danger to others must be taken care of, before they can hurt more people.

Wardens

As far as Kaisa is concerned, the Wardens are The Best. They're not flawless--there's still some kinks in the system, but they are slowly but surely getting ironed out. The Wardens are the most important group in the world, as the ones who have saved it countless times before, and will continue to do so. Kaisa has utter faith in the Wardens, and truly believed that even those who followed Clarel's lead believed they were doing what was necessary. It's just a tragedy that they couldn't see another way around it.

Mages/Templars

While she agrees that the state of Circles had gotten a bit overbearing, she ultimately believes that mages need some kind of jurisdiction to stop from setting villages aflame. Circles can be a good thing, but maybe just cool off a bit? Ultimately, it's not her business, and she'll try to stay out of it.

Rifters

Probably demons, but chill demons. As long as they aren't bothering anyone, it's not her problem.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Kaisa is a two-handed warrior, working under the berserker specialization, which gives a pretty good idea of her strengths and weaknesses in the battlefield. She's trained enough to be able to control her berserker rages, and can deal massive amounts of damage, if she hits you. If she's fighting people with weaker wills, there's also the potential of them finding a woman barreling down on them, screaming in unfettered rage, rather disconcerting. It makes duels tons of fun! However, she can't take nearly as much damage as she puts out, and can go down quick if she's not careful. If the opponent is fast enough, she can struggle to make one of those powerful blows land, not being particularly dexterous. She has to try to make fights quick, because she is definitely not good for lengthy fights. Once the fight ends, or if it lasts too long, she uses up the reserves of stamina that berserking taps into, and becomes drained and fatigued.

She is not particularly good with planning or strategy either, though she'll follow them if someone else comes up with something and explains it carefully. Otherwise, her default is to hit things until they're dead or give up.

Outside of the battlefield, she's a polarizing person. While she can make friends quickly, she can make enemies just as quickly. She warms up to people fast, but it's easy for her personality to grate against someone else's. She's got a temper, and while it's better than in her youth, she's still not quiet about her opinions, and willing to pick fights. She is also vastly over-confident in herself, which combined together, can land her in hot water.

She's a Warden, with all the pros and cons that come with it. While she's not fun to have for a sleepover, she can sense darkspawn, won't die (yet) of their taint, and can get away with a lot of shit if she can relate it to stopping the Blights. Don't make long term plans
with her, however, and she should probably stay away from Corypehus. She also has the false Calling (though she doesn't know it's false) effecting her, which is like having the worst song imaginable stuck in your head.

Inventory

-One dog. Mastiff, not mabari, alright at fighting but due to being dumb as a lamp post he usually gets put to work alerting her of danger, guarding while she sleeps, and as a pillow.
-Heavy Warden armor. Lately, this is tucked away in her pack.
-Ordinary clothes. She is the sneakiest Warden.
-One greatsword.
-A handful of health potions.
-Doggy treats.

Motivation

Kaisa originally came to the Inquisition because blood magic demon armies aren't her style, and she wasn't interested in being turned into fuel for one. She stayed with the Inquisition to help out, and hoped to get helped out with the whole Warden mess in return. Now, her motivation is that there are almost no Wardens left in the Inquisition's outpost in Kirkwall, and that's just asking for bad times.
